About

Welcome!

I'm the one on the right.

I'm the one on the right.

I’m Blogger Dad, also known as David Wright,  first time dad of a three year old son, E (his nickname for the blog).

And since there aren’t nearly enough blogs by parents littering the internet, I decided to do my part in consuming bandwidth with musings on parenthood, writing, blogging, and other Very Important Stuff.

ABOUT ME

I’m a writer and former cartoonist. I’m the co-author of the serialized post-apocalyptic series Yesterday’s Gone, and Available Darkness. I also co-wrote the short story anthology of dark fiction, Dark Crossings.

I’m currently working on the second season of Yesterday’s Gone and a new serialized fiction project with my writing partner, Sean Platt.

About the site

I’ve pretty much ignored this blog while I immersed myself in the world of fiction writing the past year or so. I’m back in 2012 with at least weekly updates, every Wednesday.

I also write at the following blogs, in case you want to add any of these to your feed:

DavidWWright – my personal blog for non-parenting stuff, where I talk about writing, books, TV, and other pop culture, and whatever else I feel like writing about.

Ghostwriter Dad – Where Sean, Tracy, and I write about writing. I do interviews with authors each Wednesday that you’ll want to check out, especially if you’re a writer.

Hopefully, some of you will enjoy what I have to say enough to comment, email me, bookmark or tell others about the site and subscribe to the RSS feed.

If you want to email me, I can be reached at idrawcomics (at) gmail dot com. (Sorry for spelling it all out but I hate spam robots).

Thank you for reading,

Blogger Dad

  2. Hi BloggerDad,

I appreciate the soul of your blog. I am also a first-time dad and have a passion for writing. I have never allowed myself to do that writing an have recently started a blog (for much the same reasons you have) and am learning to allow myself to write. I’m surprised to find that writing for me seems to clear my head so very much. And writing about my family hi jinx is tremendous fun. And yes the wife questions sometimes.

My son is just seven weeks old, so I’m still just getting things sorted out. I look forward to reading your heartfelt posts in the future.

Joshua – Thank you. Sorry I missed your comment and took so long to reply. Enjoy both your parenting and writing journeys!

      • Oh, well now we’re even. =P
Took me even way longer to see your reply. I’m not sure that I got an email notification. I usually do on blog comments. I’m guessing I forgot to check that little box down under. (oops)

BTW, James is now 7 MONTHS! Wow, what a time it has been! So much joy, learning, love and growing.

David, I’d love to connect with you on Facebook or Twitter if you’re game. I’m sure there is much that we can learn from one another; as fathers and as bloggers.

        Very best,
        Joshua

I think I can honestly say that this is one of the funniest and most soulful blogs I have ever come across. And trust me, I do a lot of blog surfing, groan!

I am a first time visitor, and I already feel the warmth of this blog and your genuineness. I will visit again.

  6. Lovely blog… like your style… sounds like jobs in the media in the US are as shaky as they are here in London…

    Keep up the nice writing…

David, There are so many things I have learned by raising kids that I could go on forever! But there is one lesson that needs to be captured each and every day, never loose the ability to laugh! When my girls were younger, Jessica had enough of whatever it was her sister was doing. She made the announncement: ” I’ve had it up to the ceiling with you!” That’s a classic. Laugh, always laugh. The hardest part is to know when not to laugh so the child doesn’t loose the lesson. Laugh in your bedroom! Write all the quirky things down, even if you don’t blog about them, your son will love hearing your thoughts years later! I love you kiddo! Lauren

Hi David, my 3y/o son has been awake since 4:00am, and I stumbled upon your blog in an effort to maintain my sanity (we all share a bedroom). Thanks for writing a cool blog. I look forward to catching up with it at a non-ungodly hour.
