An early Halloween treat
Sorry for the lack of updates for the last half of the week. Everyone in the house is sick – again. I’ll continue (and likely conclude) the baby story Monday. But first, an early Halloween treat – Sean (Writer Dad) Platt and I have collaborated on another project, a Halloween-themed treat which we are tossing into our readers’ candy bags.
While this is our second project, the first being a potty training wee-book which I provided artwork for, this is the first time we both collaborated on the writing. It’s bad enough that Sean got me to draw the whole thing, now I’m writing, too. Pretty soon, I’ll be doing the whole thing and he’ll smack his name on top and call himself Executive Producer.
Seriously, though, it was great to collaborate on the writing part with someone as talented as Sean. This was a true collaboration in every sense of the word, with the end result being better than the sum of the parts which we were kicking back and forth.
Feel free to download our Halloween treat and email it to anyone you like. Better yet, print it and share it with your children. This link will expire on Halloween.

As always, thank you for reading. See you Monday.

Hi Dave, executive producer… you read my mind. Seriously, thanks for letting me do a five minute edit and a three paragraph introduction for our “joint” project. It’s a lot of fun to put our collective thoughts together, but you’d have to roll my few minutes, then roll ‘em down month mountain to come close to what you did in the inkwell, and that just covers all those candy wrappers. Your work is awesome Dave, but your emails are even better.

DAVE! That is so cool. You guys did a great job. My daughter loved it. She climbed up on my lap to see and couldn’t get enough. The illustrations are impressive to.
Executive producer…lol, he’s preparing you for when you really get published and you have an agent, and an editor, and a producer all doing the same thing, lol.
Blogger Dad,
As I said on Writer Dad’s post, this is terrific – both the writing and the artwork! You guys work SO well together – it’s always a pleasant collaberation to see!
Hey, BD – I just read your comment on Dave F.’s “guest post.” Do you think that if I change my blog name to “Dave’s Digest” that you could find it in your heart to put me at least in your “Top 20″ Dave’s? See, I’m not even asking for the #3 spot!
Great job! And bring a flashlight!

That was fun, guys!
I used to let my kids eat as much as they wanted for the first day or so. They would then get sick of it pretty quickly (although not literally thankfully), and I would end up throwing the rest out.

I said it on Sean’s site – I’ll say it here too – you are so creative. I think it’s wonderful.
Sick and all green is an unfortunate Halloween tradition in this household.
I hope you all get better soon.
You guys are great.
It takes something quite special to be able to tap into a child’s psyche and create something that will keep them entertained.
Fab artwork too BD. Dan and I love the alien – “it’s got a beak, mummy. That’s some kind of wierd.” High praise from a 5-year-old indeed!

That was great! You both did a really good job. Do you remember those days of eating too much candy? Now it’s too much food (or drink!) wink I hope you all feel better soon.
Writer Dad – Thank you. As for my emails, maybe I should just post them as a separate blog! And yes, it’s been fun dipping into our collective inkwell with you.
Deconstructing Jen – Thank you. That your daughter enjoyed it so much is an awesome reward. As for Sean being Executive Producer, that’s fine, so long as I get the title on his projects, also.
Rita – Thank you. LOL. Well, Dave’s Digest sounds more like a medical condition than a play on a popular publication as does Rita’s Digest. But if you’re game, then yes, you too can be a Dave. As for ranking, I’ll let you and Dave Fowler battle over the coveted two spot!
Urban Panther – Thank you. And by “throw out”, you mean EAT, right?
Vered – Thank you, I appreciate the nice words. I hope I didn’t cause you to post on a Seventh blog today!
Tara – Thank you. As far as tapping into our inner child, it’s pretty easy when you’re as immature as I am (and I’m assuming Sean is too simply for associating with someone like me). And tell Dan thank you! Some of the highest praise comes from five year olds. When I sell my first book, will your son provide a quote for the back cover?
nice work, well done.

My son is an utter bookworm – he would be like having Steven King comment on your back cover!

How about “Dave’s Discussions?” Dave’s Discourse? Dave’s Dilemas? Dave’s Debates? Dave Does Dallas? Dave Does Debbie?
Sound like diseases? “Daves Does Hslloween” of course is timely-but only limited…Dave’ DailyDosages! How’s that? A cure instead of a disease!
