Chef Blogger Dad – Now “Sponsored” by Nintendo!

Blogging is weird, in that I get pitched stuff to review all the time. Companies want to give me stuff so I’ll mention or review their products in hopes that all four of my readers will run right out and get said products. In the past, I’ve been pitched stuff like Baldy Bob’s Back Hair Removal Kit, Clem’s Home Colonoscopy – Now With Extra Gloves, lawn paint, various feminine hygiene products, and other things I’ve no interest in having, let alone writing about. Lately, the quality of stuff being offered has gotten a bit better, though.

Last April, I made a halfhearted pitch to both Sony and Microsoft – send me a gaming system and I’ll be super nice to you! I think I even offered to shave their logos into my back hair. Oddly, I never heard from them.

However, the good folks at Nintendo took notice of Chef Blogger Dad’s awesome cooking skills. And they asked me if I’d like to review their new game, America’s Test Kitchen: Let’s Get Cooking, which shows you step-by-step how to make 300 recipes, while you and your family cook in your kitchen.

I said, I’d love to, sounds like just my kind of thing, as I love video games and I AM a Master Chef, and I’m sure I could write a post which is fun, but … I don’t have a Nintendo DS. I said if they’d like to send me one, I’d be glad to.

Little did I know they would actually take me up on my offer.

Two days later, a box arrived at my house with a brand new Nintendo DS XL. And the America’s Test Kitchen game.

Pretty awesome, eh?

I’ve always maintained that I wouldn’t sell out my blog space to sell trinkets and things I would never use. Hell, I even wrote a post basically assaulting marketers before they even emailed me (talk about an unfriendly marketing strategy). But a video game involving food? Well, that’s just right up my alley! The game seems pretty cool, too. Not “shooting down enemy helicopters kind of cool,” but the kind of fun you can have with the family kind of cool.

So, I’m going to take the game for a spin, cook some meals, then post about it next week and let you know what I think about it. Maybe I’ll even let my wife join me, even though she doesn’t even know how to make a proper Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.

So, thanks, Nintendo! You’re awesome! Though, I’m sorry to report that I can’t shave your logo into my back hair. Seems that Baldy Bob’s Back Hair Be Gone stuff really does work!

Ha! Clem’s Home Colonoscopy! I can see the ad already.

I was actually thinking about getting this game. I saw it in the store this weekend and since I’m a self-confessed horrible cook, I figured it might be fun. I look forward to seeing how you fare.

That’s awesome on Nintendo recognizing your cooking expertise.

Of course Blogger Mom is going to hit you over the head with the Nintendo game when she reads your comments :)

My kids mock me because I keep calling it a gameboy.

I hope the game is fun! Does it come with a little guy in a bowtie? I want to be the little guy with a bowtie.
