Introducing Blogger Mom

mothers-day-flowersFor Mother’s Day this year, I decided what better way to celebrate than to ask my wife to work.

For the most part, I don’t talk much about my wife, as she is somewhat shy and prefers for her private life to remain private. So I respect that by not using her name nor writing anything on the blog that would embarrass her. Well, at least I attempt not to embarrass her.

That being said, I want to share my platform with her, because without her, there would be no “Dad” in BloggerDad. Id just be Blogger and that domain name was already taken!

She is the most honest, sweetest and dedicated person I know. I’ve met many people in my life, but never have I met a soul as genuine and good as hers.  She’s also incredibly creative, though she claims I say otherwise. I will stand by comments about her lack of artistic taste, though, until she can walk past a Lifetime movie without stopping to watch it.

But seriously, she is my best friend and greatest love. And to be honest, I don’t show how I feel nearly enough. So let me say it now and loud.

I love you!

Without further ado, meet Blogger Mom.

When my husband, Blogger Dad, AKA (in order of endearment or lack thereof :) “Honey”, “Daddy”, “David”, invited me to write a post for Mother’s Day, I was surprised. Me? You want me to write a post? I am occasionally, and by occasionally I mean often, am reminded of what little artistic ability and/or taste I possess by my dear husband. But I thought it was so sweet of him to invite me to share my thoughts, I would certainly give it a go.

“Honey? What is this?” he asked.
“What do you think it is?”
“A pregnancy test? You’re pregnant?!”
“Yes!”

My hands were shaking when I watched my husband open that little gift wrapped box in which I placed the freshly peed-on home pregnancy test. It took him a few moments to absorb the news. I was indescribably excited and I wanted him to be too. But I knew there was a little voice in his male brain saying, “Oh, no. My life is over.” I saw it in his face. He hugged me anyway, perhaps out of courtesy or more likely, so that I could act as a buffer between him and the kitchen floor.

From that moment on, I was a crazy pregnant woman, planning every possible detail: the baby’s nursery, my maternity wardrobe, the list of names that would be crossed through, asterisked, circled and rewritten. I was online till the wee hours. Seriously, I believe I created at least two baby gift registries that night. I had so much excitement inside I felt that if I had a duplicate of myself, we both could not contain it.

It is hard for me to believe that E is now 2.

The time has gone by at an incredible pace. Don’t get me wrong. There have been days and nights that never seem to come to an end. Yet, I cannot imagine life without him. I treasure my son. He’s naughty and adorable in the same moment. He’s an amazingly even mix of me and my husband, in looks and in demeanor. Our home is full of energy and happiness because of him. He fetches his own diapers and wipes to be changed. It really is quite cute. He will find us in any room and announce, “I poop!”

It is almost always funny except when I’m in the middle of Wal-Mart and the diaper bag is in the car. But so goes the life of being a mommy. And I love it. I… Sorry, I have just been instructed to come into the living room…

“Honey, what is this?” he asked.
“What do you think it is?”
“I think it’s… poop!”

“I POOP!”

Happy Mother’s Day

Oh and don’t get me started on poop. We’re going through a stage in this house where the children flat refuse to flush after going. It’s bad enough as it is, but when you have guests . . .
