New design and other stuff

I am working on a new site design – so those of you who read this on a feed, in an email, or through some thought pattern reader or something should probably visit the site to get the full effect.

Notice the new header up top and the color theme? It’s a bit different than anything I’ve done here before, so feel free to comment and let me know what you think – either here or on the comments page.

Apparently, the header works in SOME browsers and on SOME computers, but on others, it seems to jump right out of the frame. If anyone else is using Thesis and knows a solution for this, please comment or contact me.

Also, I have created a Facebook profile. Yes, it’s official, I am the last blogger on the planet who didn’t have a Facebook page. Which means that right about now, Facebook will become out of fashion (assuming it already hasn’t) and everyone else will have moved on to the Next Big Thing.

At any rate, if you want to “friend me” on Facebook, here’s the link. If you’re not already following me on Twitter, you can also do that. I look forward to the day that I can share my every passing though with as many people as possible. Because we all know how important tweets such as, I just consumed my weight in cashews and My cat is making his post-poop circuit through the house at light speed are to the advancement of mankind.

See you on Thursday with a new post.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. It looks wonderful – great job! I’m in FF so I hope it looks like it’s supposed to – or if it doesn’t, rest assured it looks great. I’m loving the color! Adding you as a friend on FB.

The site looks wonderful. I like the colors and love the sidebar. Facebook? I’m so far from figuring it out it isn’t funny. I’ve logged on maybe ten times. Each time I click around half confused and half disinterested for a few minutes before clicking off and thinking, “maybe next time.”

  3. As soon as I heard the news I frantically clicked all over my Google Reader in my desperation to come view your new design. After viewing several sites I didn’t even know I’d subscribed to I finally landed here.

I like it. (I was so tempted to just stop there hehe)

The new design is crisp and clear. It has a comic book feel about it but done in a subtle manner which I think works well. Everything looks to be fine and in place on Windows XP using Google Chrome – what? It said chrome on the box, chrome is what the cool guys use isn’t it?

On a side note be mindful of who you add to Facebook friends it’s *not* the way to network, you want a Facebook group or fan page for that depending on what you want to achieve (a group is better suited to offering a particular service, whereas a fan page is better for drawing attention to you as a whole).

You also won’t be plagued by various invites to events, groups, applications and other spam through a Facebook page. Check out How to use Facebook to Market Your Blog.

Having said that you will absolutely want to add me as a friend because well, look, shiny chrome!

So I just popped on to show Cindy your changes and it looks different again. I don’t know how that possibly happened since I know you’re still sleeping, but the header is different and totally BOMB YO! Colors, layout, whole shebang. This is my favorite way Blogger Dad has looked since the URL first landed in my address bar. Fantastic job, Dave.

Betsy – Thank you! I’m in FF too and it seems messed up on mine. Oh well, I’ll figure it out eventually. Thanks for the FB add.

Writer Dad – Thanks! And no, I didn’t change it in my sleep, though I’m sure I dreamed about it. Your broser cache simply hadn’t yet reloaded the NEW banner.

Marc – Thanks for the kind words. As for Chrome, I have it installed, but I primarily use FF because it has all the extensions, etc. I am used to. I do like Chrome’s simplicity, however. Thanks for the FB info. I’ll read into that and figure out what I should do. A fan page for a guy with 5 fans (4 of whom are family members) would probably look pathetisad, though. And you are now added to my FB friends. The chrome pushed you over the edge!

GreenJello – Thank you! I wish I could say the saggy diaper was something I thought up and not based on reality. Oh, how I wish.

Otter – LOL. You realize that now that I’m in the cult of FB, I’ll probably have to start inundating you with pleas to cross over. Come to the light, come join the One True Way.

  8. Honestly? There is little difference between FF and Chrome in terms of user benefits. But I am a geek and just had to install it and make use of it, to do otherwise would mean a life of eternal shame in the face of my fellow geeks.

At the end of the day though I always come home to FF, not even the awesome Flock could keep me away for long.

I like it and I am putting you as a friend on facebook, but I am really a slow learner on twitter and facebook….I like following the Dalai Lama and Cameron Sinclair now there are some exciting folks to keep up with every minute of the day…

Nice colors and format….You may keep this one! :)

Viewing from FF and I have to say I LOVE the green. It’s my favorite color and this one is the most amazing neutral green ever. Love the header and the artwork. So nice!
