Rejected childrens books
I don’t think I mentioned that I’ve been trying to get a few children’s books published for a while now.
You would figure that since I am Blogger Dad and I love kids, or at least my kid, coupled with the fact that I’m a double threat in that I can write and draw, that I’d be a natural at writing books for kids, right?
Well, it would seem that the major publishing houses don’t agree.
So far, all I’ve gotten are 79 rejection slips and a cease and desist order.
At any rate, since these will probably never see a shelf at a store near you, I may as well show you the covers of these great works of literary genius.
Note: It occurred to me while I was drawing Bi-Curious George that maybe I wasn’t the first genius to ever think that moniker up. A Google search showed that indeed I am not the first. Normally, I would not use a joke if I know it’s been done before, but hey, I already drew the thing and I’d hate to let it go to waste.
Other stuff
I’m going to be mentioning the details of my secret collaborative project in an announcement here tomorrow.
Got Twitter?
If you have Twitter and you’d like a custom background graphic, I am offering my services for hire. Just use the contact form up at the top of this page and give me a shout. I mean, come on, after seeing my charming work above, you must be saying to yourself, I MUST have that guy do MY background!
Speaking of Twitter
Does technology really bring us that much closer? I ask the question in my most recent Taking Up Space comic strip.
As always, thanks for reading.
See you tomorrow.
David

LOL You should make them e-books – they’re so Fractured Fairy Tales. You’d get some dingbat dissing you immediately for corrupting the children. LMAO

Hi-freaking-larious. I really really want to read about Bob the Bear, would you mind sending me a copy? In fact if you sent me a sampler pack, maybe I could write a review and start a grass roots movement. It would be fun to show those publishers a thing or two!

I would so buy Bob the Bear. It would make a great stocking stuffer!

Over-the-top funny! Just what I needed on a snowy April Monday morning. I can’t even decide which one I like best, although I do love the fact that the Clifford books never address the size of the dumps a dog that big would leave. It’s like we don’t want our kids to understand biology, let alone plain old reality!

Clifford takes a dump should be published. It is an educational book. Kids should know that puppies are not all fun and games. Sometimes they take a dump on the carpet.

Curious George is my daughter’s current fav. I will never be able to look at it in the same light again.
Thanks for that.

You know, I was afraid to look, for good reason.
Freakin’ hillarious, Dave. (See, you have to make the covers all pretty-like, and hide the offensive crap on the inside if you want to get published.)
You are a genius, my friend. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Thanks for the giggles.

As an older kid, I did wonder about the size of Clifford’s poo piles. After all, I had to clean up after my biggish dog, and those were big enough!

You are a funny guy! I am still laughing out loud…
Thank you
I also laughed at a story on NPR this weekend….it was a story about a guy who condenses books to twitter sized comments – Pride and Prejudice = “I hate this guy. Now I love this fellow!”
Sunshine and laughter abounding here!

Super funny! Giggle. Snort. I almost wet my pants. Your family is fortunate to have someone with such levity and humor leading the pack.

I would so buy these books for my kids. So what if the publishers reject them? Turn them into e-books (or self publish) and send each of those publishers an invitation to buy the books for their kids.
