One of the first things I noticed during my first three months of blogging here at Blogger Dad is the tremendous sense of community that exists.
And the thought occurred to me, what if I could help bring together a new community for a common cause such as getting healthy?
As someone who has struggled with weight issues for most of my life, I recognize that one of the things which makes it difficult to lose weight is the lack of support systems in many people’s lives. It’s easy to succumb to temptation when we’re all alone and nobody but the mirror is holding us accountable.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a community of people sharing in similar goals?
So, I started thinking about creating a fitness blog. My plans were small to start. I just wanted a place where I could write about losing weight without filling BloggerDad up with regular weight-related posts. Little did I know that at the same time, my good friend, Dave Fowler was also planning just such a blog. We got to talking about what we wanted to do, got to talking to another of our favorite bloggers, Tara Cain, and suddenly we were all working together to create just such a community – BlogToFit.
Each of us has different goals and are in different ranges of healthy. I am probably the worst of the lot, weighing in at 350 pounds. My goal in all of this – to lose 100 pounds within one year.
BlogToFit will follow each of us as we attempt our fitness goals.
BlogToFit will also offer articles which will be of interest to those looking to get healthy. We’ll also be holding some cool challenges for anyone who wants to participate. All of the content will feature a unique BlogToFit blend of humor and heart presented in a non judgmental atmosphere.
But perhaps the most exciting part of BlogToFit is that we’re giving YOU a chance to share in the spotlight. Yes, we want YOU to join in the community.
