Why Start A Daddy Blog?

I’ve been busy cooking up something awesome which I’ll write about on Monday. Meanwhile, check out this post I did over at Man of the House.

Man of the House asked me to write a post on why I started blogging and why other dads might want to jump onto the blogwagon.

I started BloggerDad, when I lost my newspaper job. I wanted to keep my writing fresh and try something new. While my reasons to start a blog were more work-related than personal, it’s the personal side of the blog that has kept it going.

When I look back on my archives, I’m looking back on a record of my son’s growth, his journey from curious infant to a highly energized, hilarious 3.5 year-old. It’s amazing how much he’s changed, physically and mentally, in that time. And best of all, I have a record of his changes I might not otherwise have kept if I were not writing regularly at my website.

Whether you want to share your story with the world or simply create something private for friends and family, there are many benefits to blogging. Here’s a list of the basics on starting your own daddy blog.

I just happened upon your blog, linked over from somommy while researching Bach’s Rescue Remedy for kids. We’re taking a cross country flight with our 14 month old this weekend, and I’m trying to cut off any potential misery at the pass.

I started my dad blog for many of the reasons you state in your post. I hope that both me and my kids see the value in it years out. In the meantime, it’s definitely good to flex the creative writing muscle once in a while.
